Calvary Music Conservatory

The Calvary Conservatory of Performing Arts was founded as an outreach of Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa to provide the highest quality of the music instruction to the children, teenagers, and adults of the west and central Alabama areas.

Program of Instruction

The program of instruction covers 12 months, September through August and is divided into three terms.

Each semester consists of 14 private lessons and 1 recital at Calvary Church.

  • Fall semester (September, October, November, December )
  • Winter semester (January, February, March, April)
  • Summer semester (May, June, July, August)

Registration

Click the button below to fill out a registration form. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee that must be payed before your application will be considered. After filling out the form, click “Pay Now” at the bottom of the form. Payments are made through PayPal using either a PayPal account, or a credit/debit card. After processing your payment, your registration form will be submitted.


REGISTER

Tuition/Late Fees

  • Full tuition may be paid at the beginning of the semester.
  • If the student enrolls mid-semester, the tuition will be recalculated.
  • $15 late fee if tuition is paid on or after the 10th of the beginning semester.
  • $15 late fee if tuition is paid on or after the 10 days of the beginning day if the student enrolls mid-semester.
  • $480 per semester for 30 minute lesson (14 lessons and recital) (4 equal payments due on the 1st of each month)
  • $720 per semester for 45 minute lesson (14 lessons and recital) (4 equal payments due on the 1st of each month)
  • $960 per semester for 1 hour lesson (14 lessons and recital) (4 equal payments due on the 1st of each month)

Missed Lessons/Make-up Lessons

It is the student’s (parent’s) responsibility to notify the conservatory director in advance if a lesson is to be missed for any reason. The church office cannot be responsible for relaying messages regarding lesson cancellations to instructors. If you need to miss a lesson, please give Dr. Lee as much notice as possible. Dr. Lee will work with you to schedule a make-up lesson.

Make up lessons will only be given under the following conditions:

  • If the teacher is absent or late, the teacher will try to notify the parent/student as soon as possible.
  • If there is a family emergency you must text or call teacher at least 3 hour before the start time of lesson.

Make up lessons will not be allowed under the following circumstance:

  • If the student arrives late, instructors are not required to extend the lesson. The lesson time is shortened to the remaining time that is left.
  • Ball game, Birthday party, Doctor/Dentist appointments, Vacation, and Traffic.

Inclement Weather

If schools in Tuscaloosa area are closed for inclement weather, our conservatory will be closed.

Auditions/Competitions

Students may choose to participate in WAMTA audition (competitions).

Dr. Heekyung Lee

Director of the Calvary Conservatory

Dr. Heekyung Lee obtained a BA degree in church music & two post-grad degrees in Master of Music Education and Master of Organ Performance from Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea where she lectured for seven years.

Dr. Lee was the recipient of the Organ Scholarship from the American Guild of Organists (AGO) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Former students of Dr. Lee have gone on to win Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competitions.

She received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Organ Performance from the University of Alabama in 2013.
