Hurricane Relief Efforts • What are we doing to help?

Thanks to the continued financial generosity of the Calvary family, we are already able to provide on-going help to relief efforts for the recent hurricanes.

Your Unified Budget Gifts

A percentage of all gifts given to our Unified Budget go toward the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program. Two recipients of that funding are the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the Baptist Global Response (BGR). NAMB is providing counseling and support for people with loss, in addition to support for the local churches in the impacted areas to help their communities. BGR & NAMB work together though the Send Relief program to provide physical relief for people, such as food and emergency shelter.

Your Acts 1:8 Fund Gifts

A percentage of all gifts given to the Acts 1:8 Fund also support relief efforts. Three of our Acts 1:8 Partners are already working directly with the relief efforts. The Annie Armstrong Offering provides additional support to NAMB. The Myers-Mallory Offering goes to support State Disaster Ministry Relief. The World Hunger/Global Relief Offering is providing food. All of these Baptist efforts work in coordination with each other and other providers such as the Red Cross and local governments.

Additional Gifts

If you would like to give additional gifts directly to hurricane relief, you can also do so through the Alabama State Baptist Convention at

The ministries of Calvary Tuscaloosa are made possible through the generous support of those who give.

Each Sunday, we take up an offering in all three of our Sunday morning services. We also offer on-line and text-to-give options to those who feel led to contribute. Calvary strives to be a good steward of those resources entrusted into our care due to generous donations from the church family and others.  Rest assured that when you give financial contributions to Calvary, we are responsible for and accountable for the ways donations are used.

Calvary Ministries:

All Calvary ministries, including but not limited to age-group ministries, fall under the guidance and direction of our Finance and/or Personnel Committees as well as senior staff members. We also have a yearly audit of all financial aspects of Calvary performed by an outside company.  Ultimately, we are responsible to all members and advisors within each ministry area and our church body as a whole.

ACTS 1:8 Ministries:

These ministries are chosen yearly by our Missions Council after much consideration.  The Council chooses organizations which they feel align themselves with our vision of not only providing for physical but also spiritual needs within our community and beyond. For more information on all of our ACTS 1:8 Ministries, click HERE.

In addition to our General Fund (where all regular tithes and non-designated funds are placed), we have several special funds to which additional gifts can be given. Below is an outline of our funds.

  • General Fund: Supports the mission and ministry of Calvary Tuscaloosa.
  • Acts 1:8 Fund: Supports the continued efforts of organizations the Missions Council feels align themselves with our vision of not only providing for physical but also spiritual needs within our community and beyond.
  • 21st Century Fund: This fund has been established to collect gifts designated for future facility needs and building projects. In the future, we can turn to this fund instead of borrowing for future improvements.

Text to Give

Giving is now as easy as sending a text. Simply send a messsage to 73256 saying “calvarytuscaloosa (amount you want to give)” (Example: calvarytuscaloosa 10). If it’s your first time, you will receive a text with a link where you can safely connect your credit card to your smart phone. Since you only have to set up your card once, you will now be able to give from anywhere at anytime with a single text!

The Calvary Foundation Fund

Throughout the years funds have been established through generous donors in a variety of amounts. You can continue to support the specific purposes these funds were designed to support by giving to the fund of your choice. Click here to learn more about The Calvary Foundation Fund.
